NBCP will be participating in GreenHomeNYC’s DIY Block Party this weekend on N 11^th St and Wythe! Come check us out as we set up and raffle off a free worm bin at 1:30 PM. There is a full roster of events so come on out!

Look for our trusty wheelbarrow, Bessy. She will be full of compost for inspection. Want to volunteer to guard our table for a few hours Saturday? Email northbrooklyncompost@gmail.com.

Its been a mellow summer at the pile, thanks to the wild success of GrowNYC’s compost program in the Greenmarket…Thanks to funding through IOBY, we were able to partner with a few quality orgs on educational and stewardship programs this summer. Enjoy the vista.

Come join North Brooklyn Compost Project founder Kate Zidar for an evening of indoor composting with worms. Participants will gain hands-on experience setting up a vermicomposting bin, learn the basics of composting and worm care, and take home all the information you need to set up your own system. During the workshop, our example bin will be set up for use by the Greenpoint Coworking office.

Well the bins are built and we are ready to start processing for the 2011 season. We will be working for the next three Saturdays in June from 12pm to 2pm. Sign up to work any of these days here.

As the summer progresses and volunteering ramps up, we will add more hours.

DROP OFF HOURS CONTINUE TO BE 8am to 2pm IN THE GREENMARKET UNDER THE ORANGE TENT.
