Opening Day – Saturday, May 15th!
That’s right, the day you’ve been so eagerly waiting for is just around the corner ! The North Brooklyn Compost Project will start accepting your household food scraps on Saturday, May 15th.
However, before we get to the 15th, we need your muscles to get the site ready for the season. Please use our handy doodle calendar to sign up for a volunteer shift: http://www.doodle.com/k8yknk34gt3at3nr
Compost Barrel Building Workshop:
If you are interested in transforming from a mere trash depositor to seasoned composter join NBCP core member Matt in at a compost barrel building workshop this Saturday. We’ll be creating three new barrels for our site!
“The workshop will start at 12:45 at Build It Green NYC – 317 26th Ave, Astoria. We’ll probably go until around 3:30. There will be a tour of Two Coves Garden starting at 12 if anybody wants to join – we’ll walk over to Build it Green from there.
It would be helpful if you could bring or borrow an adjustable wrench and a cordless drill. Looks like it could rain so dress appropriately for the garden tour.”
NPBC’s compost is part of the Tree of Life, a sculpture featured in the 2010 Williamsburg Waterfront Sculpture Show in the East River Park. Read on for more info here http://www.uaprojects.org/blog
The show will be up through June 6th and this Saturday night there is an opening party from 6-8 p.m. at the UAP gallery at 136 Wythe Avenue (bet. N8 and N9)
See ya at the pile!
